Decided on a quick trip to watch the stars in northern Idaho. Nanc and I spent the first night out alone. Our friends Geoff and Val met up with us the next morning. The weather was perfect; temps in the high 80's during the days, dropping to mid-40's at night. The night skies were crystal clear. One just can't see the stars like this anywhere near human civilization. I woke up several times during the night just to stick my head out of the RTT and gaze up at the heavens.

The biggest thrill of the trip was hearing a pack of wolves howling early Friday morning. First, one started wailing away, then several others replied. The longer it went, the further the sound seemed to be coming from. Chilling and wonderful at the same time.

Good to hear Dale! So how did the better half enjoy your setup?

HI Jay! She loved the camping setup and camping with our friends. She HATES washboard and mountain roads. So much for camping with her. Her idea of a fun camping trip is to go to Steamboat Rock and camp on asphalt strip. Honest.

Jay, I can have a campfire in my backyard, ha ha!

Mike, Thanks for the compliment. Wish I would have taken more. We all live in the greatest area in the world when it comes to exploring and just having fun out of doors. I brought my S&W .40 model 99 with the intention of doing a little plinking. But it was so peaceful out that I decided to let it be. Maybe next time.

Sitting around reading Overland Journal, smoking a good cigar and having a beer. Life just doesn't get any better!

Nice setup, and sounds like a great trip. I would love to wake up to a pack of wolves going off first thing in the morning, wow.

You are looking very relaxed. I hope to have the Jeep and expanded family out camping soon.

Thanks! Gave up the beer recently. And the cigars :-(

My son and I are heading up the St. Joe River tomorrow morning for a couple days of flyfishing. Wish us luck!

BTW, best wishes to you, Erin, and the youngster. Looking back at my life, the only thing I really wished I would have done is to take my family out camping more often. Still trying to catch up now!
