Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route

The dates are set!  IDBDR will be taking place and I can’t wait.  I know some will want to do a portion of this route so we believe we have a good schedule so people can meet and do the portion they like.  So, here we go.

Friday, August 11th.  Leave as close to 7:30PM from Boise, Idaho and make it to Moscow, Idaho.

Day 1:  Leave Moscow, Idaho early enough to do lunch in or near Porthill, Idaho and head to Clark Fork, Idaho.

Day 2:  From Clark Fork, Idaho to Wallace, Idaho.

Day 3:  From Wallace, Idaho to “the Blue Cabin”

Day 4:  From “the Blue Cabin” to Pierce, Idaho

Day 5:  From Pierce, Idaho to beyond Darby, Montana (this portion is the Lolo Motorway)

Day 6:  From beyond Darby, Montana to Elk City, Idaho (this portion is the Magruder Corridor)

Day 7:  From Elk City, Idaho to Burgdorf, Idaho (best hot springs on the route)

Day 8:  From Burgdorf, Idaho to Deadwood Reservoir

Day 9:  From Deadwood Reservoir to home

The route continues from the reservoir to Pine, to Glenns Ferry and on to Jarbidge, Nevada.  This is an extra 2 days and we just do not have the ability to continue due to school starting that week.  I feel that this will allow some extra time along the way to experience optional portions and just enjoy the outdoors.  The first three days might be a bit of a push but I know we can accomplish this providing no real issues pop up.

This also allows vehicles to schedule the portions they want to accomplish and meet us there and continue on until they need to return home.  This is also late enough in the year that most if not all snow should be gone and the water crossings (if needed) are at lower levels.

I believe that all roads are passable to factory vehicles and will not require lifts and large tires.  With this said I do not recommend highway tires as some roads may be difficult if precipitation occurs.  I hope to see you out there.
