I wanted to start the official planning thread for this trip. I originally scheduled it from May 8th to May 29th, but decided to change it to May 29th to June 19th.
Some initial stop points along the way:
Tacoma, WA to Ashland, OR
Ashland, OR to San Jose, CA
San Jose, CA to San Diego, CA
San Diego, CA to Ensanada, BCN
Ensenada, BCN to Mike's Sky Ranch, BCN
Mike's Sky Ranch to San Filipe, BCN
San Filipe, BCN to Punta Finale, BCN
Punta Finale, BCN to Bahia de Los Angeles
Bahia de Los Angeles to Bahia Tortugas
Bahia Tortugas to Loreto, BCS
Loreto, BCS to La Paz BCS
La Paz, BS to Cabo Pulmo, BCS
Cabo Pulmo, BCS to Cabo San Lucas
Once in Cabo San Lucas, I plan on staying at Villa del Arco for a respite.
The return trip could be the reverse of this or a bee line back.
Let's hear your thoughts, suggestions, etc.
None of this is set in stone as far as destinations along the way.
Hi all, an update on this trip: I am still working with my employer to help sponsor this trip. It is looking like worst case scenario, it might be moved to October after the SEMA show. I will know more here in the next week or so.
Dan
I basically just puked out the places I want to stop but I know it is unrealistic. It will definitely get consolidated as we make the plan.
Dan, as I read your initial stopping points I count up 13 stops. Are you envisioning staying the night at each of these points plus 3 days in Cabo?
First chance: Cipro at the farmcia! We have saved dozens of Mexican honeymoons over the years! Montezuma's revenge will be a thing of the past...
How many going, are planning on pulling a trailer? We don't have a rack for the top, although I could pull something together if I really had to. Pulling a trailer does slow things down just a bit on very rough terrain, and I wouldn't want to be that guy!
Thanks Dan,
Is there a way to set up a email notification system for changes and updates? I just put in my vacation request for the old date yesterday. Oops...
I we taking trails in any of the above routes? Beach camping?
Comms I have a CB but no HAM....
We are excited to join this adventure as the following January 2021 we retire and are planning on driving through Central and South America... this trip will be a educational "test run"
