We are tentatively planning on tying the Magruder Corridor in with a family trip; we would likely be running it East to West on the return from Montana. Someday, I'd really like to do it with a group, possibly a loop one way over the Lolo Motorway and back over Magruder (or the other way around?). I've read some of the NWOL trip reports from the 2019 expedition; I'm sorry we missed it!
But for this year, it's would probably have to be a solo run because of the way it will be tacked on to another trip. One criteria for that would be knowing we can do it safely, including a communication plan. Are any hams in the NWOL community familiar with repeater coverage (or lack thereof) on that route? We might consider HF Winlink or something else, but I'd be more comfortable if I knew ahead of time we had a way to get a voice at the other end of a call out. Repeaters with EchoLink would be a bonus, so we can check in with the folks back home. VHF/UHF would be a 50w mobile with a decent 1/2 wave antenna.
I'd also be interested if someone has run the Corridor recently and has a road report. I suspect if we actually do it this year, it will be with a stock 2018 Ford Explorer. In the future, we can come back with the LR3 as part of a group run.

I have been doing Lots of NVIS using HF 40m or 7.1Mhz to send winlink emails super good for keeping in touch. 109 to about 250 miles day time.
