it's a pretty basic, no-brand rack that I'm in the process of bolting together. The vertical struts are 54" apart (white line) and the height is 6.5". Will be going on a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ . An annex at some point would be good - mosquitoes like me but I don't like them.
Rack is just sitting on top of jeep just to give perspective - not bolted together yet...
I think I'll go with an ARB 6x8 awning and annex. I think with the right brackets I can mount the awning directly to the cross rails rather than the rack itself. If there's a better option please let me know!
I ordered my awning from 4Wheel Parts - 6-8 week backlog for ARB awnings (shipping from Asia according to ARB customer rep that I talked to). I might need to jury rig an awning for the West Bar trip. Has anyone done that?
Hi Mark, first off, can you post a picture of your vehicle and roof rack so we can see what you have to work with? Second, are you looking for the awning to just be an awning, or do you want to make an annex out of it?
There are lots of choices in the market, but vehicle size and rack type are considerable factors.
