Slowly getting the Frontier ready to overland, but need a few ideas for storage. Right now, my gear is pretty minimum. As I collect bits, I am trying to figure out where to store it all. I really like the 'Decked" system, and would love a dedicated off road style rtt/trailer. For now, I really need to figure out storage with what I have, or what I can buy cheaply.
What does everyone do/use for storing all the gear they bring?
I love this thread! Keep the pics and ideas rolling in. Im always looking for better ideas for my jeep.
I'm a huge fan of the Rubbermaid Roughneck Totes. They do a good job of keeping dust and water out in the bed of my pickup, and hold up to being squished and sliding around really well. The lids are not held on the greatest so I usually strap something over top of them.
I am still drooling over the Decked system, but can't justify that cost. Below is a similar thing I made in 2011. very simple with some 2X lumber and 2 sheets of plywood. with a coat of spar urethane on top it kept almost all the water out of the drawers and held up well (the cap was only on the truck about 50% of the time). This version just slid on the bed of the truck, but I have now designed a simple system with rollers and aluminum channel; costs about $180 for the 2 sets of slides compared to $250/set for cabinet style slides.
We have some of these:

Pretty stout for the money. The lid is really well designed and will never let water in if the box is upright. A gasket could easily be added if you plan on submerging it :P
