I don't know what else to call it, but we put together a small duffel bag with some emergency stuff in it: signaling mirror, fire starters, water filter, tarp, a little food, small first aid kit, emergency blankets... We also keep our InReach in it as well as memory cards/sticks from the trip we're on. The bag is kept at close hand (ALWAYS in the same spot) in the vehicle in case of a car fire or other emergency you can throw it clear of the vehicle or grab it first. It's meant to have survival gear so we can make it until rescue gets to us (remember, it's often best to stay with your vehicle)...

Vicki and I both have a small sling pack always in the jeeps. More of a man purse I'd say. Knife, 50 gal contractor bag, water bottle, snack type bars, small fire kit, boo-boo kit, basic meds etc etc. We also have a bit more extensive day pack with more of same, sort of a get home bag, I have added fire starter kit, more cordage, better first aid, Kleen Kanteen full of water filter, itty bitty stove, faro rod fire starter and nice thing about Kleen Kanteen is if nit's the single wall one, you can boil and cook in them. Packs have extra warm socks, small tarp and mylar sleeping bags for shelter etc. Both bags have about 50-75 feet of paracord. Identical setups in each Jeep. Also both Jeeps have 4 Army surplus wool blankets in vacuum bags, Never know when a break down or bad weather etc may happen. On any out of town trips we add sleeping bags, especially in winter along with extra food so we can be kinda comfy for a couple days if need be. We also have tools and warm clothes. I've been acused of having a fetish for playing with "survival" kits, LOL, but I do think it's kinda fun to put them together. I feel it's better to be safe than very sorry!
