Here's another great road-trip to keep in mind as we turn the corner into Fall. We'd love for you to share any off-road, overlanding opportunities that might be along the way. It's amazing the beauty we have access to and often forget or neglect to take advantage of.
If you've explored any of these places, we'd love to see pics and any tips you might have - down in the comments!

Last week the wife and I took time off from unpacking and spent two days in the upper Methow Valley. Our first trip to Washington Pass Overlook west of Mazama on highway 20. The view of Liberty Bell mountain was stunning. Returned to Mazama and ventured up Harts Pass (6198') on NF-5400. Which we learned is the highest maintained road in WA. It snowed the day before with Harts Pass camp ground had 2" snow. The short drive to Slate Peak (7488') with 4-6" of snow at summit was worth the adventure. A 1/4 mile climb to the lookout provided stunning panoramic views. The upper elevation Larches were displaying their golden colors and views of the Pacific Coast hiking trail is visible.
Thanks, just goes to show you even a blind hog can find an acorn every once in a while.
The key to photography for me is to be at the right place at the right time, then don't screw it up (then take a bazillion pictures and hope 1 turns out ok 😄 )
Wow JR, those pics are stunning!
While not actually in Fall, more Wintertime (first week of January), we've gone up to Concrete/Rockport/Marblemount to the Skagit Eagle Festival. Sort of hit or miss with eagles in the area, probably like fishing - "You should have been here yesterday..."
With not much going on there, we seem to always end up going over Diablo Dam.
Nobody around and the Art Deco design is really cool. We were there just as it got dark enough for the lights to strike.
We rented a cabin on Lopez Island for our honeymoon. Probably better in the summer time when things are open 😂
Beautiful photos in those articles.
