Has anyone installed a slimline front bumper on their 4Runner or Tacoma? I'd like to get an idea of the winch quality and what front suspension upgrades may be necessary. Looking at the product online it says it only weighs 80lbs. Thinking upgraded front spring should be enough to handle the additional weight.
Thanks for the input!

That's a nice looking hybrid bumper. I'm thinking of doing something similar for my Tacoma. They say it only adds 40lbs over the OEM parts that you need to remove to install this bumper (plus winch) so I wouldn't think it would affect ride height much.
I wouldn't think so. I don't know what your current spring rate is but say it's 600in-lbf. So for every 600 lbf applied to the spring, it compresses 1 inch. So you're adding 80lb of weight, cantilevering it out from the front axle a bit. I don't know what the exact calculation would be but let's just round up to 100lbf applied to the front springs. Divided by 2 because there are two springs. 50lbf/600in-lbf = .083in. So roughly a touch over 1/16" lower ride height.
@Aaron Kravik thanks for the input. Hopefully I only need to use the winch once or twice a year. Looks like there is an option with access points that I'll have to look into. Would you suggest upgrading the front springs after adding 80lbs to the front end?
Thanks again!
Which winch are you looking at?
That bumper says that there is no winch access through the face of the bumper and that you can only get to it through the engine bay. If you actually use your winch, that's going to get real old real fast. The remote control connector can be easily relocated. The gear lever for freespooling is another matter...
