Mad props to Dan, as the Banks Lake 2019 edition gave *far* more memories than past trips.
Things I'll remember...
Wear sunscreen
Bring rain gear on *every* trip
Deep down, Fish and Wildlife officers are people too
Tepui makes a very wind resistant tent
REI Nikwax work really well
Lastly, just because Leona does it, does not mean we all should
Thank you Dan, my son and I will be able to talk about the highlights of this trip for a lifetime.
But did you die?
Thanks for a fantastic weekend!!!
Speaking of Banks Lake, here is my summary of our great weekend. Apocalypse and all!
The weekend warriors congregated at the Columbia Valley Brewing Company in Wenatchee for what was supposed to be a brief lunch and hit the road. However, Friday traffic snarls would have the trip leaders and a couple others waiting out slow semi trucks, traffic accidents and distance itself from the West side. Once we all got in the same geographic location, we chowed down, had a couple frosty beverages and Made our way down the highway towards Banks Lake!
Here, driving Eastbound on SR Hiway 2 outside of Waterville, WA.
As we made progress Easterly, I suggested we stop and check out an old homestead along the SR Highway 2 corridor. Friends of mine introduced me to this roadside (dis)attraction about 5 years ago. I has seem more damage as of late, which is sad due to the loss of historical value.
After a bit of a dilapidated history lesson, we circled the wagons and readied our convoy to continue East towards Coulee City.
At this point, we had members Ed A., Justin H., Leona W. and Chris S. Later, we would connect up with a couple more NWOL members coming in later that evening.
Once we got to the trail head, we encountered an amazing drive into the Bank's Lakeside which we were then met with a short hill climb. Here's Ed A. after the drive up making way to his campsite for the weekend.
Our unfortunate view for the next three days :-)
Camp Cronin all setup and ready to vacate.
Justin H all setup and ready to have a memorable night.....
The weather clearing up just in time for Happy Hour!
The Lake and its surroundings are an amazing geographical and geological setting. Here, Charlie and I getting ready to dive into the warm waters.
Video coming soon of Aaron and Kristal K, and Jacob S and his shotgun, Kelly at camp.
More video tomorrow after it uploads to our YouTube Channel! Check back soon! And keep an eye our on IG and FB for links to the YouTube videos!
Thanks to all out participants. The video captions will explain the next phase of our trip, which was, to say the least, the most memorable.
Dan, Carrie and Charlie
Thank you, Ed and Adam for jumping on board at the last minute! So great to see you two again!
