Inspired by the attempted NWOL group trip up to the lake, and with the following weekend free, we headed out of Tacoma Saturday morning.
For some reason I assumed that the Forest Creek Jeep trail on GAIA was represented as a more maintained road than the forest road that runs parallel to it so that's the way we went.
Whoops.
Having never really taken my truck up anything where I had to pay too much attention, I was surprised at how well it went.
There was only one spot where I had to jockey a corner so I didn't drag my awning across a tree, but other than that it was sweet.
The truck is nothing special off road with it's stupid leveling pucks up front and 285/70's but the trail was just about the perfect amount of serious for it.
The other truck in our convoy was a late model 4 runner with a little lift and good tires so no drama for them either.
The lake was beautiful and the bugs didn't really get going until the sun went down.
Wind seems to be following us around at night lately but we still got our regular amount of mediocre sleep so that's a win.
We made a new friend with a sweet Toyota at the lake who informed us of the alternate route so that's the way we went down. It was much quicker.
Thanks Wyatt.
