Jim - the original plan was to bolt down the bottom 'plate' with the tie down bolts - I could not figure out what length bolts I needed since I already put the plate and drawers in and it fit so tight that it is not coming out - press fit, basically. If I ever remove it, then I'll bolt it down. There is some rubbing of the square tubing along the uprights, but its minimal.
One of my winter projects here is building drawer and sliding shelf storage in the rear of the XJ heep. Not going to go with a fridge just a good cooler. We dont take more than 3-4 day trips anyway.
skate bearing drawer slides - I don't have the 3/4 square tube steel sliders bolted to drawer sides in this photo. Also used an upper tier of slides for dual bed sliders. Water tank and space for compressor and on-demand water pump in the back left side.
Expedition Portal has builds of every possible drawer slide option.
I'm in the same boat for 8' drawers. I've researched and found three different options.
1. Heavy duty drawer slides $$$$$
2. Skate bearings, bolts and aluminum channel rails $$$
3. PTFE low friction tape or UMHW plastic $
I'm going with #3. Check out the Australian Drifta videos for some great ideas. I love his table idea and have the hardware to build one. I have more hardware than time at this point!
It's OK, we know Ray :-)
LOL sounds like you all are having a laugh at my expense.
Yeah, it would be bad, but probably couldn't turn away either
I wouldn't put it past him after a few rounds...
Ray, here's a pretty good source for slides, I would imagine for the TJ, the drawer wouldn't be that deep so don't get hung up on needing 500lbs rated, unless of course you and a friend are planning on dancing on it.

Camped next to a couple at the rally who had a pretty tricked out old army jeep trailer. He made the whole inside of the trailer a sliding tray/drawer. He said he got tripple extension slides from ebay. About$150 I think.
